2014 Western Washington Quilt Shop Hop Fabrics Now Available for Pre-Order
The 2014 Shop Hop fabric is available for pre-order now! And as you (might) know, once it's gone, it's gone. The fabric doesn't get re-printed. This year's focus fabric is a traditional floral from Seattle-based In The Beginning Fabrics and the coordinates are presented by Clothworks, also a Seattle-based company. Let's here it for buying local!
Shop Hop fabrics are not available for pick up or mailing until the first day of Shop Hop, which is Wednesday June 18. You can reserve the fabric(s) of your choice by paying in advance and picking them up (or we'll mail them at regular US Mail rates) on or after June 18.
The Wild Rose Quilt Shop & Retreat is offering the 2014 Shop Hop fabrics for $9.75 per yard.
Passports will be available for online download and printing in early June. You can see the dates, details of the hop, prizes and the brochure in its entirety at:
It's "Christmas In ......"
February or March....or both! At least this month it is. We've come up with a 10 month program to help you de-stress the Christmas season. Each month (Feb - Nov) one of our awesome staff (and John too!!) will show you how to make a really cool "something" that you'll be thrilled to give as a gift. Our criteria for "Christmas In ...." is that the gift project is reasonably inexpensive, reasonably easy to make in class (then go home and make tons more) and reasonably quick to make. Learn to make these different projects and you'll be laughing in December instead of launching into panic mode!
Judy's "Christmas in ...February with Judy was wildly popular so we've opened another section. Judy is using the Carol Doak book "50 Small Paper-Pieced Projects" and will show you how to make the cutest dang Christmas tree card. And, you don't even have to know how to paper piece; Judy says it's that easy. So fun, so cool; you might not ever buy a gift card again! So Christmas in Feburary is on Saturday March 22 from 9-11:30am (makes sense, huh? :)
And, we have Christmas in March and it's in March! Donna has a Hot Casserole Carry-All project all lined up for you; it's a cool way to keep your casserole dish hot! The first session on Sunday March 16 is full, so we've added another session on Wednesday March 26 from 5-8pm.
Christmas in April is a raggy pillow with Karen. She used homespun fabrics to make her rag pillow with polyfil stuffing inside. Or you can choose to use a pillow form. Karen says to use either flannel or homespuns (because the edges fray so nicely) for your pillow...then go home and make tons more! Christmas in April is on Sunday April 13 (because the 3rd Sunday is Easter) from 1-4pm. FUN!
Each month we'll be offering a different project and have the samples in the store so you can PLAN your gift giving this year! Wahoooo!
We are starting some cool Block of the Month programs and will continue adding BOMs to our calendar. It's nice to have them spread out a little! Check our website BOM page here: Block of the Month Programs
Downton Abbey Mystery Quilt Starts in February! (or March, depending when the fabric gets here!)
How fun for Downton Abbey fans and especially those who love the Dowager Countess (played by the fabulous Maggie Smith!) We've got a 4-part Mystery Quilt program starting in February that uses 4 fabrics from Andover Fabrics' "Downton Abbey" collection (Dowager Countess). This is not a Mystery Quilt by E-mail like we've had in the past, but you can participate by mail. We will mail your fabric and clue every other Friday for 2 months (4 clues).
More info will be posted, like the starting date, when we know for sure when the fabric will arrive in our store. The cost is $27 and includes 4 clues, the complete pattern at the end and all the fabric for the top and binding. The lap size finishes at 60" x 80" and the pattern has directions and fabric requirements to make it bigger, if you wish. Backing fabric (the cream fabric with the Downton Abbey castle printed on it) will be available at a discounted price for Mystery Quilt participants.
The Dowager Countess fabrics are the first 7 in the collection toward the bottom of the page. We are adding 2 other fabrics from different manufacturers because we wanted more contrast for your quilt to look amazing!! Stay tuned for more information.
